Initially inspired by the suburban pool culture of the 1960’s (think the iconic scenes in Mrs. Robinson’s backyard from “The Graduate”), designer Shanan Campanaro began work on the collection while spending time “poolside” at Le Petit Hermitage in Los Angeles, and at her parent’s San Diego home.
The imagery and pallete of the collection draw upon the magical effects of sunlight on surface ripples, morphing floor shadows, and the coloration of adorning stone & tile, as well as grand azul the pool water itself.
The different colorways in the collection possess a soft, yet incredibly rich mélange of hues, and each are named in the customary whimsical Eskayel fashion: Cerulean, Amaranthine, Glimmer, Viridian, Strata, Brick, Pearl, and Pool.
Poolside features eight brand new patterns. They include:
Ripple (available in Amaranthine, Pearl, Strata, Viridian and Cerulean)
Ula (available in Cerulean, Pearl and Pool)
Splash (available in Cerulean, Glimmer and Pool)
Natale (available in Brick, Pearl, Viridian and Cerulean)
Reflection (available in Amaranthine, Pearl, Pool and Viridian)
Solitaire (available in Amaranthine, Glimmer, Pearl and Pool)
Poolside (available in Pearl, Pool, Strata, and Viridian)
Kaya (available in Brick and Viridian)
In Eskayel’s signature style, The Poolside Collection takes shape from Campanaro’s beautifully abstract watercolor and ink paintings offering clever and modern interpretations of traditional surface design. These kaleidoscopic patterns are then printed using the same process as archival art reproduction, preserving “a hand-made feel to the designs, as each brushstroke and pen mark is visible,” explains Shanan.
