The Portico collection draws from Shanan’s regular visits to Puglia, her father’s family’s ancestral home. Along with her emotional ties to the land, she is profoundly moved by the region’s people, coast, cuisine and striking white towns situated just south of where her family lived.
These influences manifest in a wallpaper mural sold by the roll on the studio’s classic clay-coated wallpaper; a non-repeating engineered fabric sold by the yard, available on linen and cotton grounds; pillows available in the studio’s
standard sizes, made from various parts of the large-scale mural creating varying motifs; 100% organic cotton flat weave rugs; and 100% wool hand-knotted, looped and strait pile 120-knot count Tibetan cross-weave rugs.
“Portico debuts minimalist pastel designs that abstract the whitewashed facades and sunbaked coast of Puglia, in Southern Italy. Together, they create a harmonious balance of color and form.”
“I love going places I have never been. That’s what usually draws me to a locale: exploration and experiencing a new way of life…
Ironically, I seem to return
to Puglia year after year. It is my father’s family’s ancestral home and each stay further cements my emotional ties to the land.”
